Welcome Home, Kato Martinez

With the terrible number of terror attacks occurring around the globe, there was one last March in Brussels, Belgium that particularly hit home for an American military serviceman and his family.

Air Force Lt. Col. Melchizedek “Kato” Martinez, his wife, Gail, and their four children were in that airport when the attack happened. All were severely injured, and tragically, Gail Martinez died in the attack attempting to save her two youngest children from the blast. In an instant, the family’s lives were changed forever.

As soon as we heard, Building Homes for Heroes stepped in to help.

Just recently, we gifted a mortgage-free home to Kato and his family, who are all still in the process of recovering from their injuries, both physically and psychologically. By gifting them a home in San Antonio, where Gail always dreamed of raising their children (in their dream community), we pray that it will be the beginning of a hopeful future ahead for the Martinez family.
